If you rather want to spend the day at the beach, you can go to Folly Beach, it is located south of Downtown Charleston. You can't mention Charleston without thinking about the Charleston dance, which is named after the harbor in the city. The Broadway show Runnin' Wild, in 1923, featured a song called The Charleston. Later that year the dance was introduced in a production named Liza. The dance then developed with addition of movement sequences with African-American roots. Today, the Charleston is an important dance in the culture of Lindy Hop. It can be performed solo, with a partner, or in groups of couples or solo dancers.
Transportation and commutes in Charleston, SC Almost all working Charleston residents commute to work by driving alone, or commute via carpool.
